Norwegian for Beginners: Master the Basics with Confidence
In this Norwegian for beginners course, you start with the most critical element: how Norwegians actually pronounce individual sounds. You won’t just look at letters; you will learn to hear and reproduce them correctly. You will repeat basic Norwegian phrases almost exclusively in the present tense to reinforce how verbs function. This repetition is vital because, at the start, Norwegian verbs often won’t sound familiar to you in any other language.
To learn Norwegian from scratch effectively, you must master nouns along with their articles (en, ei, et). I will remind you a hundred times: without these articles, it is simply not worth learning the names of objects at all. During our Norwegian A1 course, you will also learn the specific intonation of Norwegian sentences. Since you are learning with a professional, I provide individual tips and constant corrections to ensure your intonation is correct from day one. Your homework will focus on listening and repeating to build your “ear” for the language. To truly start learning Norwegian and retain what you’ve learned—knowing how to ask and answer questions—consistency is key; ideally, you should engage with the language every day.
Reaching the A1 level means you can read and understand familiar words and very simple sentences, such as public messages and basic forms. You will be able to understand everyday speech when others speak slowly and clearly about familiar topics. By the end of the course, you can ask and answer simple questions about yourself. Most importantly, we provide a solid grammatical foundation and develop good pronunciation habits that will have a positive impact on all your future studies.
